I started my journey in birth work in 2010 as a Baby Planner. From Baby Planning I began increasing my knowledge and education by becoming a Certified Child Safety Educator, Certified Doula, and Perinatal Bereavement Specialist. Naturally, I became an Advocate for the March of Dimes and a member of the F.I.M.R (Fetal Infant Mortality Review) committee. I’ve sat on various other boards and committees
including the M.E.A.C (Midwifery Education Accreditation Council) Clinical Training Taskforce and the Wisconsin Guild of Midwives Policy committee.
I assisted the Wisconsin Guild of Midwives in bringing the International Center for Traditional Childbearing Full Circle Doula training to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2014, for women of color within our community to become trained Doulas. Along with the ICTC training, these women also received DONA International Birth Doula training, African-American Breastfeeding Alliance of Dane County Peer Counselor training, CPR and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) training. Organically, the Wisconsin Doula’s of Color Collective was birthed.
I am currently the Director of the Wisconsin Doula’s of Color Collective and Nursing student. I server families with various socioeconomic backgrounds within Southeastern Wisconsin and surrounding areas. Last but not least I am the proud mother of two beautiful daughter’s ages 20 and 14.
